Simple Treatments
Many injectable wrinkle treatments, like JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel, Restylane®, and Radiesse®, work by filling in unwanted creases and facial folds. BOTOX Cosmetic works on a different principle. It treats wrinkles by temporarily weakening suspending the contractions of the facial muscles that create the wrinkles, called "dynamic wrinkles." Shortly after muscle movement subsides, wrinkles smooth away, restoring more youthful looking skin.
These quick, simple treatments are performed by injecting tiny doses of the product into specific areas of the targeted facial muscles with a fine needle. Most patients can barely feel the treatment, which is sometimes described as a "bee sting" sensation.
