Springfield Tummy Tuck
Having a flat tummy can enhance your whole appearance, helping you look fit, healthy, and toned. Whether your abdomen is stretched out and saggy because of pregnancy or weight loss, diet and exercise can only do so much to improve its appearance. For many active residents of Springfield and Hartford, a tummy tuck is the most effective way to restore their abdomen to the firm, flat form of yesteryear. Many people choose board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Glen Brooks for his outstanding surgical outcomes and commitment to quality patient care.
Find out if tummy tuck surgery could be right for you. Request a consultation online with Dr. Brooks or call his office on the Longmeadow Town Green at (413) 565-4400. Patients visit him from Springfield, Hartford, and other Western Massachusetts cities.
When you put a lot of effort into caring for your body, you want it to show. Dr. Brooks understands that there are times when you can’t do it all yourself. Women and men from Springfield and Hartford turn to tummy tuck surgery because it effectively:
- Tightens sagging skin and reduces stubborn abdominal fat after significant weight changes
- Flattens a tummy bulge caused by abdominal muscles separated by pregnancy
- Achieves a more sculpted, contoured waistline
Many women achieve more dramatic results by turning their tummy tuck into a “Mommy Makeover.” This custom combination of cosmetic procedures can include breast augmentation, breast lift, liposuction, or other procedures to correct some of the physical changes brought about by motherhood. These procedures can be safely combined, allowing patients to optimize their time off for recovery.
A Personalized Procedure
Because each patient has his or her own unique physical needs and aesthetic goals, every tummy tuck procedure Dr. Brooks performs is customized to the individual. Possibilities include:
- Full tummy tuck: This comprehensive procedure improves the entire abdominal area from below the ribcage to above the pubic bone. It is commonly appropriate for patients with significantly stretched abdominal skin and muscles.
- Mini tummy tuck: This less invasive procedure contours the abdominal area below the belly button. It is effective for patients with minimal sagging and whose abdominal muscles have not significantly separated.
- Liposuction: This procedure is often used in conjunction with a tummy tuck to reduce stubborn fat on the tummy, hips, and outer thighs.
Patients with excess skin on the hips and thighs might also benefit from a body lift, which includes an inner and outer thigh lift and a buttock lift. During your confidential consultation, Dr. Brooks will perform a brief physical examination, ask you to describe your areas of concern, and then propose the most appropriate treatment plan for you.

What to Expect
Tummy tuck surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure that takes about 2 to 3 hours to complete; mini-tummy tucks take about 1 to 2 hours. During the surgery, patients are usually under general anesthesia. Dr. Brooks performs tummy tuck surgery by tightening separated abdominal muscles, reducing excess fat, tissue and skin, and fine-tuning your look with liposuction, if necessary. Although incisions and resulting scars cannot be avoided, Dr. Brooks strives to minimize their size and place them where they will be concealed by most under garments and bathing suits.
After your procedure, you will be required to wear a compression garment around your waist to decrease swelling and encourage a compact contour. Dr. Brooks suggest that most patients get up and walk around as soon as possible after surgery to promote healing and prevent blood clots. While experiences vary, you can expect to return to your daily routine, including work, within about 2 to 4 weeks, but strenuous activity should be avoided for about 6 weeks. Our staff will provide you with specific instructions after your procedure.
Tummy tuck surgery can give you the flat abdomen you’ve worked so hard to attain. Most women enjoy having a smooth profile in a variety of clothing, from form-fitting dresses to low-rise jeans and bathing suits. Men often feel more attractive and confident in fitted shirts or even no shirt at all. Dr. Brooks strives to provide a rewarding patient experience with results that exceed your expectations.Back to Top
